Overeating Guaranteed: Must-visit Mughlai Eateries for Bakra Eid

Happy Eid becomes happier when you dig into some scrumptious Nihari, Biryani, Haleem, Kebabs & of course end it all with tempting desserts! We’ve chopped down a list of the best Mughlai eateries across the country which serve lip-smacking dishes.

Chicken Korma, Shahi Tukra &  Phirni In Delhi

To make the most out of your eating experience, head to Jama Masjid for a  variety of Mughlai delicacies. Al Jawahar and Karim’s are two of the most popular crowd-pullers (in fact, tummy-pullers), but who can skip going to Nizamuddin during this festive season? Treat your tastebuds to Kebabs, Chicken Korma & Mutton Stew at Ghalib Kebab corner. And finish your meal with Shahi Tukra or Phirni at Karim’s.

Galouti, Kakori & Tangdi Kebabs in Lucknow

Lucknow is famous for its Galouti Kebabs that just melt in your mouth, its Chicken Tangri Kebabs and the succulent Kakori Kebabs. The Chowk area is famous for a number of joints where one can indulge in both sweet and savoury dishes. For Gulabi chai, try Nakhas market at night. During Eid, Gulabi chai is served here with hot imarti (similar to jalebi). Flavoured with saffron, Elaichi and Kewra, its taste is nothing like the ‘typical chai’ you’re used to.

Haleem & Mutton Biryani in Hyderabad

Haleem is a must-have during Eid. This dish is a combination of meat, pulses and dates and the best place to try it is the Mallepally Badi Masjid area. The old city of Hyderabad, specially the Charminar area is another ideal place to try Haleem. Shah Ghouse Cafe & Restaurant and Pista House are highly recommended. Of course, no Eid celebration is considered complete without tasting the Hyderabadi biryani. Cafe Bahar & Paradise are the top picks to relish it.

Nihari, Halwa & Flavoured Phirnis in Mumbai

Mohammed Ali Road in Mumbai is the place to go for some delicious Eid feasting. Some of the outlets here don’t have fancy menus or plush seating, but the food is exceptional. Try Barah Handi, opposite Crawford market, for the Paya soup and Nulli Nihari with Lamba Pav and Suleiman Usmaan for the creamy Phirnis, which come in flavours of black current, kesar, strawberry etc. and the tempting Burfi, Aflatoon and Shahi Sitafal Halwa. But the best has to be Malpua that has eggs beaten into it. It is topped with Rabdi and dry fruits. Heaven on a plate!

Mutton Samosas, Double ka Meetha & Shawarmas in Bengaluru

Head to Mosque Road in Fraser Town, Johnson Market, Shivaji Nagar, Tilak Nagar and MM Road, and to try the yummy fare. Start with the mutton samosas with flaky pastry, the spicy rolls, naans, and shawarmas. Then end with the desserts – Double ka Meetha, rose-flavoured Falooda, and Shahi Tukra. It’s difficult to resist as the evening air is filled with aromas from grilled meat and charcoal.
